St. Vincent Early Learning Center is committed to providing high quality learning experiences for children in our community.

St. Vincent is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which represents the highest quality in early childhood education.

The NAEYC Academy establishes and maintains a clearly defined process for pursuing, achieving, and maintaining NAEYC Accreditation. The intent of the process is to increase the accountability of the system for children and families and ensure programs meet NAEYC’s definition of excellence for early childhood programs.

NAEYC Accreditation is for a five-year period, after which programs apply for reaccreditation. St. Vincent earned NAEYC accreditation in 2010 and was re-accredited in 2015 and 2020.

We have earned a Paths to Quality Level 4 rating—the highest level—from the state of Indiana. Level 4 Programs are the highest rated programs and have demonstrated a commitment to the highest level of professionalism in quality early care and education —achievement of a nationally recognized accreditation.

St. Vincent Early Learning Center holds national recognition as a Certified Nature Explore Classroom

St. Vincent Early Learning Center earned national recognition as a Certified Nature Explore Classroom from the Nature Explore program in August 2019, which is a division of nonprofit Dimensions Educational Research Foundation.

This certification confers on St. Vincent Early Learning Center a number of benefits, including membership in an ever-expanding network of more than 470 like-minded spaces nationwide. Certified Nature Explore Classrooms foster highly effective, nature-based outdoor learning and is the only certified space in Evansville.

The opening of the outdoor classroom is the culmination of more than a year’s efforts to redesign the center’s 35-year-old playgrounds to incorporate more natural elements. The project aligns with St. Vincent Early Learning Center’s focus on whole-child development and learning by inspiring children’s creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, which will help to prepare them for academic and lifetime success.

These unique outdoor classrooms offer interactive, open-ended materials and elements that allow them to use their creativity, imaginations and initiative. Research consistently shows that children who learn and grow in Nature Explore Classrooms exhibit enhanced concentration, develop creativity and problem solving techniques, manage stress in healthy ways and develop skills across the spectrum of academic and creative learning.
